This was a terrible day for the man on a cross. The manner of his execution is nothing short of horrifying, agonizing, protracted. And yet we call this day Good Friday.
That seems a little selfish, doesn’t it? The death of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection and ascension have made it possible to be confident in our salvation. Stop to consider for a moment that it is our sinfulness that put Him there, and for all that, He dies to win our forgiveness and salvation and a life in eternity with Him. No wonder we call this Good Friday.
If you watch this service at home, please don’t fail to see an Easter service. Don’t let His death be your last thought of Him this weekend. He waits to rise from the tomb.
