This sermon addresses the universal experience of disappointment and how it affects our relationship with God. Bro Mike explains that disappointments are inevitable for everyone, including Christians, and often stem from not understanding God’s bigger picture or purposes. Using biblical examples like the Jews’ disappointment in Jesus not being the conquering Messiah they expected, and the disciples on the road to Emmaus, the message shows how disappointment can block our ability to see God clearly. The sermon emphasizes that God allows us to go through struggles and disappointments not to harm us, but to teach us spiritual warfare and develop our faith so we can help others. The solution to overcoming disappointment is to cast all our cares upon Jesus, trust in His plan, and learn from our experiences rather than allowing them to exhaust our souls.
Intro Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You tonight acknowledging that we all carry disappointments and hurts from our past. We ask that You would open our hearts and minds to receive what You want to teach us through this discussion. Help us to be vulnerable with one another and to see Your bigger picture in our lives. Remove any barriers that would prevent us from hearing Your voice clearly. We trust that You have good plans for us, even when we don’t understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
