Sunday Podcast 163 with Michael W Smith 122825

Bro Mike delivers a message about the end times, drawing parallels between the days of Noah and
Lot with our current times. He emphasizes that we are living in an era of widespread corruption and spiritual blindness similar to those biblical periods. The central focus is on Lot’s wife, who serves as a warning about backsliding. Despite being saved from destruction, she looked back to Sodom because her heart longed for the comfort and familiarity of her old life, even though it was filled with sin and corruption. Bro Mike explains that backsliding begins in the heart when emotions pull us away from God’s path forward.
The sermon warns that serving God requires sacrifice and that the path forward may seem uncertain and difficult. When we focus on past comforts or become overwhelmed by future challenges, we risk turning back like Lot’s wife. Pastor Mike shares a personal story about a man who repeatedly went through deliverance but kept relapsing because he wouldn’t commit to the complete process. The message concludes with an encouragement to move forward in 2026 rather than looking back to 2025, emphasizing the need to control our emotions and stay committed to God’s calling despite difficulties.
Intro Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with grateful hearts, thanking You for Your Word and the lessons You teach us through Scripture. As we gather to discuss this message about moving forward and not looking back, we ask that You open our hearts and minds to what You want to speak to us today. Help us to be honest about areas where we might be tempted to look back instead of pressing forward in You. Give us wisdom to understand Your truth and the courage to apply it to our lives. Holy Spirit, guide our discussion and help us encourage one another in our walk with You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
