Do you remember the old country western song, “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”? The song was about a down and out cowboy, looking for love in bars and shallow relationships. He truly was “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”.
Today in our Gospel Lesson we have a text that might go by a similar title, only instead of “Love”, people were “Looking for God, in all the wrong places.”
Looking for love in all the wrong places. Looking for God in all the wrong places. Isn’t that what happens to us all when we fall in love with earthly gifts, but forget the one who gave those gifts of us?
As we go about our daily life this coming week, may we seek and enjoy not just earthly bread, but may we seek even more intensely, the giver of all good gifts, the “true bread from heaven”, Jesus Christ our Lord. To Jesus who is the “bread from heaven”, the one who gives us the living water, the one who has redeemed us from our sins by His sacrifice on the cross, to Him be all the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
